First (Great!) Review for Prince of Death!

Romance Junkies Blue Ribbon Reviews has given Prince of Death FOUR Blue Ribbons!

From the review:

More than just an inferno of a book with enough sultry fire to burn up the pages, December Quinn gives an insightful glimpse into the complex personality and kinships of such intriguing characters like Cynwrig and Ayani. With an ultimate princely hero, scorching love scenes, and an unexpected twist to a well composed story, what is there not to love about December Quinn's PRINCE OF DEATH?

You can read the whole thing here.

Very gratifying.

Is it just me, or is this month the longest month ever in the world? Seriously. It feels like it's been January forever and it's only the 19th, we're just barely halfway done.

Trying to get edits done while working on the new project with Anna. Trying to make kiddies happy while keeping the house clean at the same time. Bleh! I want to go away for a weekend by myself, is what I want to do. Just me and my laptop. Sigh. What a lovely break that would be.

You have the real goods!
Nice! (as much as I hate that word "insightful.")

What bernita said. I think most of us think you are the real deal (bernita should know, she's got a gift too). I'm not suckin' up. What good would that do me? -JTC

January seems to be December month.

Yeah, I'm not surprised, either. I actually finished the book a few days ago and wrote a long, detailed email to tell you how much I enjoyed it, but my stupid hotmail went all haywire and it freaking disappeared as soon as I tried to send it. ARRRGGGHHH.

Anyhoo, it was all good, only one tiny nitpick--the same one I have with David Gemmell's books, although they're nothing like PofD: The lack of contractions in dialogue. But after reading every David Gemmell book in existence, I've trained myself to convert all the "I am not"s and "it is"s into "I'm not"s and "it's"s as I read, so it wasn't a real bug.

The scene that grabbed me most was Cynwrig alone by the lake. I actually cried. Such hopelessness! Poor guy. And the scene where they're playing for penalties--smokin'! Ooh, and the balcony scene. Let's just say the whole thing was pretty damn hot, and leave it at that, shall we?

I agree about January seeming long. Maybe that's because I've actually managed to write more than 30 000 words since X-mas--polished words, no less. This laptop is a miracle, I tells ye. As for the house and the kiddies, as long as we're not up to our ankles in dog hair and there's stuff to eat in the house, I'm content. Although a romantic weekend away with just my computer would be nice, too.

Congrats, baby. You deserve good things.

Thank you all! I'm all warm inside. And it's not just the yummy beer.

Kis, I'm so glad you liked it! (Stupid email!) Yeah, the lack of contractions was deliberate in Ayani's speech--it was supposed to convey her people were more formal, blah blah blah.

And I'm glad you liked the lake scene. It was meant to be highly emotional, I got upset when writing it, too. Whee, I'm so happy you enjoyed it!

Oooh! Congratulations!

And yes, its the longest month ever. I was just think that yesterday. I keep thinking its the end of the month. And yet.. its not.

(Sorry, that's as profound as I get after work. ;))

January is dragging - but the holidays seemed to last forever this year. Usually they fly by, lol.
Are we in some sort of time warp?

Congrats for a fabulous review!!!!

That was a great review, and it will entice many others to read your book. Yes, it has been a long and cold month, even here in balmy California. Always remind yourself the kids will only be with you for a really short period of time. They grow up so fast, it has become a cliche in modern lexicons to even mention it. Luckily, there are grandkids ahead, God willing, you will not have primary care responsibilities for. :)

I came by a couple days ago and congratulated you, but Blogger wouldn't cooperate. Sorry it took me so long to get back, because the congrats are heartfelt. No, wait. I know you hate that shit. Let me try again: you wicked wench. I'm so jealous. I hope you only sell half a million copies, and not one book more.

Thanks everyone! Sorry I didn't respond individually. I took a blog break over the weekend. The hubs actually read my latest WIP, so I figured I owed it to him to get off the computer for a while. :-)
