We Interrupt Our Regularly Scheduled Programming

For a quickie, but I'll be posting more on macho later. (I didn't have time yesterday, the day flew away from me.)

Plus, honestly, I've noticed that when I post every day I seem to get less comments. What's up with that, guys?

I've been playing with the blog more, you'll notice on the sidebar now I have all sorts of nifty new tracking features. There's a site called My BlogLog that has some cool widgets and tracking charts and stuff. I guess it's for networking/blog community building. I just think it's got some neat info. It's worth a look if you blog a lot, anyway. Although it may be embarrassing for you all to see just how many times a day I'm actually popping onto your blogs.

And that's it. More macho later, and after Macho Week is over I have lots of writing-related questions for you and a New Year's Resolution book to discuss.

Also, do you guys think I should do Thursday Thirteen? It seems like a lot of people are doing it, and it might be a good way to attract readers, but at the same time, I don't know if anyone would actually read it. It is a meme, after all, and I think most people tend to just skim those. What do you guys think?

Your blog.
I skim them, most of the time. But that's me and my enui about memes.

i lurk on your blog almost everyday - i just feel a tad guilty when i over comment on stuff, ya know? Like i'm waving my hand going "look at me, look at me!" So i only comment if the compulsion is too great to resist or i think i have something relevant to contribute. Or i'm having a "look at me" moment. Okay? There. I confessed. Heh.

Do the Thursday 13! I think it's a hoot to see what everyone comes up with.

And I just installed lurker tracking freeware on my blog as well. Kicking a big kick out of seeing who sneaks on and off the site without a word. What? I wasn't funny enough? Wasn't deep enough? Oye. Ego.

HEE! I feel that way everytime someone de-lurks and comments. I have a site meter that gives me a little picture of the globe. My children are incredibly impressed that I have hits from Australia, Germany, and that I e-know a woman who ACTUALLY. LIVES. IN. ENGLAND.

I tend to skim the 13 unless the subject is interesting. Thirteen Places I've Made Out is waaay better than Thirteen Places I've Eaten Chinese Food.

That's exactly the way I feel about memes, Bernita. An excellent word for it, as always. Thursday Thirteen excepted, I always feel like memes are for lazy bloggers. The occasonal one is fine, but overdependence...

Wow, Rhian, it's actually really exciting to think I have more people reading than the seven or eight who comment regularly. Which doesn't even come close to implying I don't want you to comment. I love comments. I will work for comments. And I don't think anyone is waving their hands around but me. :-)

I totally want lurker tracking software. Please give me the link?

And keep commenting, I get all tickled and happy when people comment.

I want an international site meter too! My website stats tell me where I get hits from (and I have a ton of links and hits from Italy, of all places, but since all the linking sites are in Italian I don't know what they're saying) but the blog isn't technically part of the site, it's just linked into it, so I don't see blog hits. Only hits to the site from the blog.

Would your kids like to see some pictures of my town?

My daughter would lend you her MP3 for pictures. You may not realise just what an impossible feat that is for the rest of us.

You do have a lot of neat little widgets on the side there...

Meme if you wish. I do Thursdays, but I only blog twice a week and don't have much to say, so it helps fill up the page.

yo December - i gotta warn you - this wee little link presents a huge danger of falling into stats-geekdom. Make sure you tell it to not recognize your isp address (one of the options) or it will totally inflate your stats and suck up your free log space in an amazingly short amount of time. grin! http://www.statcounter.com/
ohhh - the map is SOOOOO cool.

All those counters and stuff actually turn me off. They make me feel...violated. Big-brothered, maybe? 1984ed?

I'm aware that I belong to a privacy-delusional anti-establishmentarian paranoiac conspiracy-theoried minority.

Ooh, I'm all a-flutter, Rhian! I can't wait to play with this!

Makes sense to me, lbl. But none of my statcounters so far tell me exactly who is looking or track ISP's, they just say where people are coming from and what links they click. I hope my few counters won't stop you from coming here?!

Well, if it's any comfort, I always comment when I stop by (if I haven't already). It's not any comfort to me, this big mouth of mine (virtually speaking), so I hope it's useful to someone.

Heh, it definitely is lbl! So glad you started coming by here!
