Tagged!

Here are the rules:

1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.

2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.

3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

OK - 8 Random Facts/Habits About Me:

1. I cut and dye my own hair. Haven't had it professionally done in like 4 years.

2. I desperately want to go home.

3. I secretly want to write horror and mysteries, but no matter how hard I try romance keeps sneaking in there. And how do you write a book without a sex scene?

4. I'm rather vain about my hands and my pretty nails.

5. I only use two or three fingers when I type. I type about 50 wpm on average (I've never tested myself, but I can do 2-3k words an hour easy if the story is really flowing.)

6. If I could afford it I would totally have plastic surgery. So it's vain; so what?

7. I ended up with a GED and didn't actually graduate high school, because I was half a credit short in math. My GED scores were enough to get me into any college I wanted, though. If I could do it all again, I would drop out at 16, get my GED, and get an AA degree before turning 18.

8. One of these days I'm going to take fencing.

Okay, and I have to tag people now. So I tag Robyn, Scary Monster, Arin Rhys, Rashenbo, Rebecca, Writtenwyrdd, Bernard, and Michele (trying to tag people I haven't tagged before, have I tagged you guys before?)

So, this is why people comment on blogs anonymously. :)

Easy... You keep the characters too busy to have sex LMAO. I've been seriously considering the multiple pen names thing lately because so far I write paranomal cross genre, like urban fantasy, science fantasy, dark fantasy and horror/romance. But see, I have a few other things I want to write, like a non-paranormal thriller, and a straight forward drama romance.

I have to say, before I started digitally hanging out with you and Annie I was incredibly uncomfortable writing romance. Sex, sure, I loved writing that. But romance? Phoey! LOL

What kind of plastic surgery?

"What kind of plastic surgery?"

Do tell!!

Rebecca said...

Yes - what kind of plastic surgery?

And why do you want to go home? Do you not like England? Too cold?

- And I've already been tagged for this one and have just done it (we seem to be doing coincidentally similarish posts lately)

OK, I tagged you and trotted over to tell you - and lo and behold, you've already posted your eight facts. Great job - you're so fast! I'm impressed!
LOL
And plastic surgery WHERE?
And home? Aren't you home?

Bernita said...

Why would you need plastic surgery?

Very sweet of you, V95! And lol Bernard!

I don't tend to write a lot of really romantic romance, Michele. My characters are much more along the Mr. Big "I fucking love you, okay?!" kind of people. But to me that's romantic. :-)
But I would really miss writing a sex scene, busy characters or not.

December Quinn said...

Okay, everyone, lol! I have always had a fancy for some actual-sized breasts, for one. And years of contact wearing and extreme photosensitivity has given me rather thinner skin around the eyes than I would like (in addition to the hereditary pads above my eyes) so I wouldn't be averse to a preventative mini-lift now.

Why do I want to go home and don't I like England. Hmmm.

I like England, I do. But no, it isn't home. We live in a very rural small town. Everything is very far away, and everything is very difficult. The expense is outrageous, I mean really stunning, and you do not get what you pay for.
There are so many things we want to do here, and we can't afford to do any of them, which is very discouraging. I've been dealing with some serious depression issues in the last few months because I don't feel like I fit in, it's hard to make friends, I feel like I stick out in a wierd way and second-guess everything I do because I feel like I somehow have to represent America. My natural insecurities are really magnified here.

I miss my friends. I miss my family.

I miss all the conveniences of America. I miss driving on the right side of the road on roads that are actually wide enough for two cars to pass without someone having to jump the curb. I miss stores being open past 5:30 on a weekday and being open at all on a Sunday.

Everyone has been very nice to me. But I don't fit in, and I want to go home.

Rashenbo said...

Lol! I'm not sure I could write a sex scene if I had to! :) I'm running out to an interview, but I'll be back and do you justice!

I have no idea if you've tagged me before or not... no matter, I was wondering what I'd blog about this morning anyway!

I lived in England for ages and found some things great and others frustrating.
Do you live near any writers? There must be someone around! Whereabouts are you?

December Quinn said...

Nonsense, Rashenbo, I'm sure you could. And I don't have to have them in the books I read (although I do prefer to), it's just they're such fun for me to write I think it would be really hard to leave it out.
Can't wait to see your answers!

Welcome Jennifer! Thanks for the comment! Yes, "some things great and others frustrating" sums it up pretty well. We're in Devon. It's that "Devon lifestyle", in part, that we just don't get into at all. We wanted to take it easy but...not this easy. There's nothing here!! Lol.

Sonya said...

And how do you write a book without a sex scene?

Easy... replace it with violence! *G*

Your #2 makes me go :-( Are you going to do that some day?

ERiCA said...

I'm with you re: #1. I've had it done professionally less than half a dozen times in my life, only 2 of which were in the past decade. I thought I was weird--thrilled to discover I am not! (Well, at least about that, anyway. *g)

December Quinn said...

It's more fun when there's equal amounts of both, Sonya!

We sure plan to, yes. Two years or so.

December Quinn said...

Lol Erica! Or maybe we just share a weirdness.

Weird is good!

Scary Monster said...

I'm it?!! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Okey dokey. But you'll have to wait until tomorrow to hear about the silly side of scary monster.

P.S. Me favorite bad-good guy is The protagonist from the movie Payback- Mel Gibson did an amazing job of bringing all the facets of human emotion into the part. Iffin you ever get the chance Me highly reccomends it.

STOMPALODEOOO

December Quinn said...

I've seen both version os Payback, the Mel and the original with Lee Marvin (whom I adore). You're right, very good, faceted character!

Can't wait for the silly side!

Tempest Knight said...

Heh! I'm learning to cut my own hair. I posted my 8 today.

writtenwyrdd said...

Oh you beast! Now I must respond, and I've already shared my best secrets in earlier blogs!

Isabella Snow said...

LOL at number 3! I was just thinking that myself! I'd love to write a murder mystery - but it would have lots of naughty sex.

Do they allow that?? ;)

Rhian / Crowwoman said...

These are great and dang it - leave the sex in! Sex good. Sex fun. Sex enriches character development. Yeah! That's what it does! You have an OBLIGATION to your characters...okay, I'm reaching now...

Anna J. Evans said...

I"m with Rhian, leave the sex in. Guys like sex, they just don't like the romance from what I gather. My hubby likes romance, however, lol, so he would buy a thriller with romantic elements.

I'm having a hell of a time keeping romance out of mine too. And with keeping my chick in love with only one guy, lol.

December Quinn said...

Tempest, I think part of the trick is learning to hide mistakes in the cut. :-) My hair is wavy/curly so it works really well for me.

Muahahaha Writtenwyrdd!

I'm gonna try, Isabella. I'd like to see something like that. :-)

December Quinn said...

Yes Rhian, I have a duty tomy characters to give them as much sex as they can possibly handle. A duty I will not shirk! Lol

See, that's the fun thing about non-romance, Anna. They don't have to stay in love with just one guy.
