Also, a new review, hot off the presses. This one made me giggle like a little kid. Not because it was a delightfully great review; it's not a bad review by any means but it's not glowingly wonderful either, although I loved this line:
...holy crap, Stacia Kane can write a scary scene. When she wants to, she can grab you by the throat with tension and fear. I just wish she'd done a bit more of it. I'd be interested to see what she could do with straight horror.
But because I love a well-written review. Good or bad, I don't really care (obviously I have a preference, sure, but you know what I mean.) And this is a well-written review--the reviewer, B.J., is clever and pithy, and clearly enjoys what she does. That enjoyment is infectous. So go check it out and see if it makes you laugh too. (Note: I'm sure some small part of my delight in the review is also owed to the line: In spite of his silly name, Dante still managed to yank my Bad Boy chain like a monkey swinging from a church bell. Because you know how obsessive I am about my heroes and how happy I get when other people love them too. And the response to this one has been overwhelmingly positive, with the exception of Mrs. Giggles, but she's Mrs. Giggles and so can basically do no wrong as far as I'm concerned because I freaking adore that woman. Anyway. That line made me go squee.)
What do you look for in reviews? What makes a good or bad one for you? Will you come hang out with me on the 9th so I won't be the loser sitting there all by myself? (That's write. I would be the lonesome loser. Beaten by the Queen of Hearts every time. And boy is that a blast from the past. Next thing you know I'll be quoting Juice Newton or Ann Murray or somebody. Ah, my seventies childhood.)

I'll be there on the 9th to check you out. :*)
Hey, I like that line from your review. It's a compliment. Not everyone can emote fear...that's a good thing...in writing, that is. :*)
Squee on the reviews! Congrats!
I'm the Joker, I'm a fool, and I'll do anything for you. Of course I'll be popping by the bench press next week to see you.
Holly Kennedy is in the lineup with you! I saw her read from the Silver Compass last week. She remembered me from her last reading here; she's the only person to call me Seeley, to my face, in real life. She's awesome.
For reviews, I look for critical stuff. I used to review for a site that insisted all books get a minimum of 3 out of 5 and that all reviews be worded for promo purposes. (I returned more than a couple books because I refused to give crappy books 3s) Because of that I take all 5 star reviews with salt.
Well, I'm sure it's better than Workin' 9 to 5 in the Smoky Mountain Rain! I mean really, Love will turn You Around!!

I'll come visit. I've got to cover all my jerk-faced boss's shifts next week, and I'll have the 2:00-4:30 p.m. deadzone to fill. Ugh.
Of course, by the ninth, I may already be a zombie...
Cool, DH! Yeah, I have to admit, it's when the reviewers say nice things about my actual writing that I get really excited. It sort of makes the rest of the review not so important, if you know what I mean.
I would call you Seeley in real life, Seeley! And ugh, I hate review sites like that. I heard someone once say they kept their good reviews to reread when they were feeling down, no matter what site they were from or whatever, and it's just not a mindset I can get into myself. It's the difference between having a man compliment you because he means it or because you slipped him a fiver to do it. The first matters, the second doesn't. If all I want is a meaningless jerkoff I'll write my own review of myself. ("The greatest writer of her generation! This should be nominated for a Pulitzer, it's THAT extraordinary!")
Oh, that Smoky Mountain Rain, it keeps on calling...lol. Hey, T., email me your address, okay? Or just email me anyway, to let me know you got the new email addresses.
Kis, I don't know if it's my tired eyes, or the fact that I'm watching the "funky spunk" SATC episode, or both, but your comment looked like something really dirty was happening at your work for a second there. Hey, when you have "come", "jerk", and "boss's face" in one line...can you blame me?
Wow, how dirty is that joke? I'm a wild woman!
Heh, I'm even unintentionally dirty, yay!
Read PD yesterday. Love it! And I hope you get more wonderful reviews.
'...holy crap, Stacia Kane can write a scary scene. When she wants to, she can grab you by the throat with tension and fear. I just wish she'd done a bit more of it. I'd be interested to see what she could do with straight horror.'
That is a great review line. I sure understand you being pleased with the review if for no other reason than those sentences.
That *is* a great review! Honest and to the point, and also positive!
Thanks for the mention! Your name is going into the trusty hat as well.
:-)
I'm looking forward to author week.
That is a good review. Congrats.
