Quickie

This is the only pic I have so far--that's the hubby and me, living it up baby. It was a wonderful party and we finally went to bed at about 4 am. I wasn't thrilled with my hair, though. I wanted it much taller. I'm into big hair.

And we weren't even too hungover yesterday. I switched to Coke around the time my eyes started swimming and so dragged myself back into moderate sobriety before bed.

It's a good thing, too, because my reaction when I got home and realized once again my promised book release did not occur...let's just say I was grumpy and a bit upset.

Which makes the fact Miss S requested pages from me an ever bigger, huger, deal! Lovely to see that right before bed. Makes me think perhaps all is not lost.

I'll do a better post soon, and I'll tell all about the party (the poor man on my right ended up having to be carried up the stairs) and the hotel which made us all feel as if Poirot was about to join us, and about seeing the Atlantic Ocean from the opposite coast and how that was kind of a big deal, and I'll probably rant and go on and on about something as well. But for now, I am basking in the glow of my COM joy.

Thank you! I still don't think the pic actually looks much like me--I hate the way I photograph--but at least I don't look like a moonface.

And yes, very happy. It was a lovely evening.

Please tell me you weren't the one who came up with the hook for dead bodies floating in the water beside an Aussie tour boat. :)

Lol, no bernardl, mine is the one about Megan Chase and the personal demons.

Hey, you were number 100. Congratulations. I did like the Megan Chase Demon one, but I almost commented on Spud. The Ghostbusters' first ghost they captured in the movie was called Spud, and showed up in the later comic books with that name. The Crapometer was a real eye opener. I've already written 500 pages of a new novel I titled Abaddon, and it astounded me how many angel and demon hooks there were. Even if a writer has a completely fresh story, I can sure understand why agents just toss the initial hooks out of sheer boredom. :) Great picture of you and your husband too.

You look beautiful, your hubby's very dashing, and that guy on your right looks like he's going to cry. And then hug everyone. And then throw up.

Thanks, everyone! Yes, the hubby is indeed dashing. He's 6 foot 2 and slim, as well. I'm a lucky girl.

Oooh, SW...I'm so nervous!

Congrats on your success with the COM (I don't think any of us are surprised).

That is a nice pic of you and Mr. December (Mr. December, that's funny). Anyway. You look good for 250 years old. -JTC

Thanks, JTC. I don't know how much success I'll ultimately have on the COM, though...I'm very worried about my opening (I'll post about it later.)

And I do try to keep myself well-preserved. :-)

Ah...250...I see. I have no idea why it said that. Did I do that? Anyway, I fixed it.

Whew! I'm glad you figured out what I was talking about. You might've hated me forever. -JTC

Honestly? I thought I'd made a joke about being old at some point and you were referencing it.

I'm telling you, my mind is going.

Congratulations on your hook! I loved the Megan Chase and demons hook. It sounds so interesting and right up my alley. I'll be eagerly awaiting the pages.

Lovely picture of you and your husband. I love your dress and you look great.

Thanks for your nice comments on my hook - I was 193 - Japanese samurai family, etc. I'm still fighting the urge to cringe against the Directionless Blather comment from Miss. Snark. Never thought of myself as a blatherer. Oh well! And congrats on your book.

Thank you for your kind words about my nicotine-deprived MC in the Snarkometer. Miss Snark, in her infinite wisdom, has asked for more words. After a quick glance at your profile, I think you'll be receptive to the direction the narrative takes...!

Thanks again and congratulations yourself!

Thanks, Isabella!

And thanks so much, ello and Nancy! Ello, have you ever read a book called (I believe) "Bridge to the Sun" or "Pathway to the Sun" by Gwen Terasaki? I think it's hard to find, but they made a movie out of it--American woman, Japanese man, marry just before WWII and live out the war in Japan. The movie was quite good.

I'm definitely looking forward to it, Nancy--when she gets to the pages, in about 6 months, lol! The suspense is killing me.

Thanks December! I just found it on amazon and I'm going to try to hunt down a copy through our library system or mosey on down to the LIbrary of Congress for some fast skimming. The amount of research I have done for my book has been unbelievable, and yet there is still so much out there!
THanks again!
