Once again

I have been remiss in updating here. Oops. I haven't been in a blogging kind of mood the last week or so. Largely because it's half-term break and the children are driving me todistraction-the Princess seems to have decided "clingy and bratty" is the way to go for the week, while the Faery has sworn off naps. What fun.

Oh, how I love my daughters...

But, I have been working my little fingers off, too. I had some trouble with my elves but they seem to have sorted it out themselves, informing me they did not want to be nice to each other but wanting to have a big old argument to clear the air instead. I love it when they do that. I'm within a hairsbreadth of 40k on them, so over halfway done since this is a shorter work. Also had a great, emotional ending come to me in a flash the other day which is always nice.

Then the vamps need to be finished, and then...who knows? I'd really like to get going on another historical, and I finally have a great idea for a historical short to sub to EC for the 2007 Cavemen antho. So I will probably get working on that in the next week or two.

And that's basically it! I'm so boring lately, as I always am when I'm working. Non-working December is a fun gal; working December is dull and speaks mostly in vague platitudes, because she's saving all the good stuff for her work. (Working December also seems to have a disconcerting penchant for speaking of herself in third person. Ugh. Must curb that before I start saying things like, "Don't mess with December" or "December doesn't like it when you do that" or "Bring December another gin & tonic.")

December's fingers float like a butterfly, sting like a bee on the keyboard...

Spring Flings cover!

Nice, isn't it? And very exciting to see my name up there with so many lovely ladies.

Valentine's Day

Yes, I know it isn't V-Day yet. But this is the Weekend Before, which means all of us "attached" folks are probably doing our celebrating this weekend.

For me, it's a double-edged sword. We have the MIL coming down to watch the kiddies so we can actually (gasp) spend a few hours without them. Which is nice. But, of course, her presence here means we have to entertain her when we are home, which means no going out then coming home and lazing around watching TV and drinking.

Valentine's Day has historically been a miserable one for the Hubs and me. Things never seem to work out very well. The restaurant is bad, or the DVD player breaks, or the children are terrors, or whatever. I think a lot of couples have this problem. We've certainly had our best times just staying home, which makes me nervous about going out this year. (I think the best one was when I made spaghetti and meatballs and we drank wine and watched The Godfather. I love The Godfather. I even have a shirt that says, "What Would Michael Corleone Do?")

We thought about seeing a movie. Ha! Our local theatre has two thrilling choices for us: March of the Penguins or Chicken Little. Ahhh...romance at its finest.

What we'll probably ed up doing is getting dressed up, wandering around aimlessly, and stopping at McDonald's.

Oh well...

Wasting time

Can someone tell me why I spend all day trying to find time to write, then when the Faery falls asleep and I can do some writing, I'm wasting time blogging/reading other blogs/fantasising about Dr. Troy?

The sleeping Faery who, btw, took her VERY FIRST STEPS today! Walked about two feet, right into the Hubby's arms. Aaaaw. She's almost a toddler! I can't believe it. Soon I will have no more babies, just little children. And then the last faint echoes of the urge to have more babies will disappear forever. See, I think most people want more babies as their kids grow up. Not me. I spent the first year or so of Princess's life, and the whole last year, desperately wanting another baby. Once they get a little independent, though, and I realize I have some free time again...I'm gone. No more diapers for me. It's cocktails and fun from there on out.

Princess is still sick. Its the most pitiful thing in the world. But kinda nice. When I don't have to take her to school I can sleep late.
But I'm also not getting my exercise and shall start gaining weight again if I'm not careful. :-(

Remember the Fisher King?

So one of the blogs (Agent Kristen. I love Agent Kristen-I've been watning to query her for years but my stuff doesn't seem to mesh with the work she represents, generally, so instead I just admire her from afar) I read has a post about the "movie" query. You know, like "My book is like The Wizard of Oz crossed with Die Hard," or, "My book is kind of a Bridget Jones-y, LA Confidential-y kind of a story." (Actually, that's not too bad. Chick lit and hard-bitten crime novel combined, with hookers and tough cops gone bad. Hmmm.)

So it occurred to me...

I could conceivably pitch a novel as "kind of a big titty, spread cheeky kind of a thing."

Boy, erotic romance is fun!
